Deleting your account
Helpen — a daily record of small kindnesses.
You can delete your Helpen account, and everything in it, at any time. There are two ways, and both remove the same things.
In the app
Open Helpen, tap the menu in the top right, and choose Settings. Scroll to Delete account and confirm.
This happens straight away. Your account and every entry are removed from the phone and from our servers before the screen closes.
By email
Write to hello@helpen.app from the email address you sign in with, and ask us to delete your account. We need the message to come from that address so we know the request is yours.
We will delete the account and confirm to you. This is usually done within a few days and never takes longer than 30 days.
What is removed
Everything. Your account, your email address, your name, and every entry you have written — the text, its date, and its colour — from your phone and from our database.
Deletion cannot be undone, and we cannot restore a deleted journal afterwards. Our database provider may hold routine backups for a short time as protection against data loss; we do not use those to keep a copy of a deleted account, and anything of yours in them falls away as they age out.
Uninstalling is not the same thing
Removing the app from your phone deletes the copy stored on that phone, but your account and its entries stay on our servers so they can follow you to a new phone. Use one of the two methods above if you want the account itself gone.
